WHY USE HYPERCOILS?
It’s the way that they are rated!

Some spring manufacturers use a method known 20/80 for rate testing. This requires a reading of the load at 20% and at 80% of available deflection. The load at 20% is subtracted from the load at 80% and then divided by the distance between the two points. This number provides the average rate between 20 and 80 percent. The problem is that a 20/80 design can be out of tolerance by 2% light at the top of its deflection and 2% heavy at the bottom. This has shown to produce springs that are highly progressive in their rate characteristics over the 20/80 spread.

All HYPERCOILS are designed and manufactured to provide as linear a rate as possible during deflection. Essentially this means that once a Hypercoil is properly pre loaded it will require the amount of load equal to the rate to deflect the spring each inch. Take for example a 500 lb. per inch rate Hypercoil. The design calls for this spring to be preloaded 500 lbs. and then deflected one inch for rate. In this example the spring will require 500 lbs. load (+1- 2%) to move it the additional inch after pre-load. This is true for the next linear inch of deflection as well. Chassis engineers and damper manufacturers prefer this method as it specifies a load within a tolerance for each one inch increment of deflection.

HYPERCOIL customers benefit from suspension coils that are designed to be consistent in the load/energy required to move them each linear inch. This provides fewer variables in the chassis set up.
